High-Definition Digital Video for the Color Computer

The CocoDV is an advanced hardware upgrade designed to bring the TRS-80 Color Computer 1, 2, Dragon, Tano, and MC-10 into the modern era. By tapping directly into the digital signals of the Video Display Generator (VDG), the CocoDV bypasses the noisy RF modulator to provide a crystal-clear digital output compatible with modern DVI and HDMI monitors.

Key Features
  • Pristine Digital Output: Experience "HDMI-quality" video that eliminates the ghosting and wavy lines common with original RF or composite connections.
  • Enhanced Graphics Capabilities: Beyond standard output, CocoDV introduces advanced features like Tile Graphics modes (supporting up to 30x80 characters), hardware sprites, and smooth horizontal and vertical scrolling—functionality that exceeds even the standard CoCo 3.
  • Integrated Artifacting Control: Features a dedicated toggle to cycle through different artifact color modes in real-time, allowing you to perfectly dial in colors for PMODE4 games that originally relied on NTSC television quirks.
  • Broad Compatibility: Specifically engineered for NTSC Color Computer 1 and 2 models, the board plugs directly into the 40-pin VDG socket for a reliable connection.
  • High-Fidelity Audio: Includes a remote connector board with an RCA jack to route the original CoCo audio alongside the new video signal.
Installation & Package Contents
The CocoDV kit is designed for enthusiasts, including:
  • The main CocoDV FPGA-based board.
  • A remote connector board featuring DVI video and RCA audio ports.
  • Flex ribbon cable and mounting hardware for a clean, professional install.
  • Firmware options for both the standard 6847P and 6847T1 VDG chips.
